About My Criminal Defense Practice

Former Four-Term Elected Guilford County District Attorney

My experience is what separates me from the competition. Before entering private practice, I served in the Guilford County District Attorney's office for 24 years. I spent 10 years serving as an assistant district attorney before being elected as the head district attorney. I served four consecutive terms, a total of 14 years, in this elected position, and I am the only person to be re-elected as district attorney in Guilford County since 1900.

Today, I use my experience and extensive knowledge of the local court system to better represent your interests. No matter what criminal charges you face, I will be your personal advocate and aggressively defend your rights in court.

Experience Counts

I focus my practice on representing citizens charged with a wide variety of misdemeanors and felonies, from reckless driving to serious drug violations. I have prosecuted more than 300 jury cases and have personally handled 12 first-degree murder cases. Since becoming a defense attorney, I have often won acquittals on charges of murder, sex offenses, drug violations, assault, and driving while impaired (DWI).

As a Greensboro criminal defense lawyer, I believe in ensuring the state proves its case against you beyond a reasonable doubt. I thoroughly investigate every aspect of your case to make certain your rights were not violated by law enforcement officials. I challenge evidence obtained by an illegal search and seizure, and I will work diligently to obtain the best possible outcome in your case.

When you hire my law firm, you hire me. As a solo attorney, I work with you from start to finish. I answer questions without legalese and guide you through the process so you always know what the next steps are.
